Baetis mayflies are hatching now on Yellowstone area rivers, and will continue to do so into November. Autumn Baetis are tiny and emerge in vast numbers during the afternoon hours, always catching the trout’s attention. This fishing isn’t for beginners or the faint of heart, but for skilled anglers it’s a (last) chance to fish over rising trout before getting weathered out for the season. The Sparkle Duns pictured below are 24s, necessary for catching larger, wiser fish.
